This policy explains how personal information is handled when you visit talesofvalthoria.com, explore Tales of Valthoria artwork and development news, or contact us. It describes the information involved, why it is used, the services that help us operate the website, and the choices and rights available to you.
You can find the person responsible and our contact details under Who is responsible, or go directly to Your rights and how to make a request. This policy covers this website and correspondence about it. Separate services reached through our links have their own privacy notices.
1. Information and purposes
You can browse the website without creating an account. We currently have no public registration, on-site checkout or public comment form. Browsing still involves technical information, and contacting us involves information you choose to provide.
- Delivering and protecting the website. Your browser sends information when it requests a page, image or other resource. This can include your IP address, the resource requested, the time, browser information and a referring page where your browser provides it. We use this information to make the site available, identify errors and investigate abusive traffic or security incidents.
- Understanding website use, if you accept analytics. Our optional statistics include pages visited, traffic sources, device and browser information, and approximate location. They help us understand which parts of the website people use and where navigation or presentation could be improved. IP and browser information are used to produce a hashed visitor identifier, allowing visits to be distinguished without using a visitor’s name. Hashing does not, by itself, make information anonymous.
- Counting visits, if you accept analytics. We also maintain page-view and visitor totals by page and date. A session cookie helps distinguish a new visitor from additional page views during the same browser session.
- Responding to you. Messages may contain your name, email address, the subject of your enquiry and any information or attachments you send. We use them to answer questions, provide assistance and handle privacy requests or related concerns.
Optional statistics and the visit counter stay off until you accept analytics. You can reject them and continue browsing. The technical processing needed to deliver and protect the website still takes place.
Approximate country or region may be inferred from an IP address. This is not precise GPS location and can be inaccurate, particularly where a connection is routed through another location.
Page delivery and statistics involve automated processing. Correspondence and privacy requests may also be reviewed by the person administering the website. Please include only information relevant to your enquiry; do not send identity documents, payment details or sensitive personal information unless we have explained a specific need and an appropriate way to provide it.
2. Age confirmation, cookies and browser storage
After you confirm that you are an adult, the website saves a timestamp in browser storage associated with that tab. This avoids repeatedly showing the notice. The preference is valid for up to 12 hours, checked when a page loads or is restored, and is not sent to our server by the age-confirmation component.
The notice does not request a date of birth, identity document or photograph. It records a declaration, not independently verified proof of age. Choose Age confirmation · 18+ in the footer to clear the choice and display the notice again. Clearing the site’s browser storage also removes it.
The cookie banner lets you Accept analytics, Reject analytics or open Settings. Optional analytics is off by default. A necessary first-party cookie stores your choice and the time you made it for up to 180 days, whether you accept or reject. If it expires or you delete it, the website asks again. These choices apply to the browser in which you make them.
Both statistics systems are controlled by that analytics choice. One produces statistics without browser cookies. The separate visit counter uses a first-party session cookie to recognise that additional page views belong to a visitor already counted during that session. Its lifetime is controlled by the browser rather than a fixed expiry date; some browsers restore session cookies when reopening a saved session. Neither optional system is activated before analytics consent.
You can change or withdraw your analytics choice through Cookie settings in the footer. Turn Analytics off and choose Save preferences, or choose Reject analytics. Withdrawing stops subsequent optional measurement and removes the visit-counter cookie from that browser; it does not automatically erase statistics already recorded. You can contact us about those records using the details below.
Authorised administrators also use sign-in cookies, but visitor accounts are not currently offered.
You can inspect, block or delete cookies and site storage in your browser settings. Blocking storage may cause the age notice to reappear. These controls affect your browser; they do not erase information already recorded in statistics, correspondence or server records.
Age confirmation is separate from privacy choices. It is not consent to analytics or other optional processing, and reading this policy does not provide that consent either. Where a particular use requires authorisation under applicable law, a privacy notice alone does not replace it.
3. Services that receive information
We use hosting and content-delivery services to operate and protect the website. These providers process connection and request information, including IP addresses. The hosting provider also stores website data and backups.
Email service providers process message contents, attachments and delivery information so that we can receive and answer correspondence. Your own email provider also handles information involved in sending and receiving messages.
Authorised website administrators can access information needed to operate the service and deal with enquiries. Information may also be disclosed in response to a binding legal obligation; what is disclosed depends on the request and the applicable law.
Links to Patreon, Discord and MEGA lead to separate services. If you follow them, their notices govern their handling of accounts, payments, community activity or downloads. An external link does not create an account with us or process a payment on this website. Contacting us does not subscribe you to a mailing list.
4. Where information is processed
The website is operated from Colombia. The services supporting hosting, content delivery and email may process information in other countries, depending on their systems and the service involved. Storing statistics in the website’s database does not mean all information remains in Colombia.

International availability does not mean that the same data-protection rules apply to every visitor or activity; the relevant rights and obligations depend on the applicable law.

6. How long information is kept
Different information has different retention arrangements. A preference stored in your browser is separate from a record held by the website or a service provider.
- Age-confirmation preference: retained in the tab’s browser storage, subject to the 12-hour validity described above.
- Cookie preferences: acceptance or rejection is remembered for up to 180 days from your most recent saved choice, unless you remove the cookie earlier.
- Visit-counter cookie: lasts for the browser session, including any session restoration performed by the browser.
- Website statistics and visit totals: historical records are kept to understand traffic and changes in website use over time. There is currently no automatic deletion period configured. Visitor recognition is not limited to a fixed period by the current settings. The end of a browser session, expiry of a consent preference or withdrawal of analytics consent does not automatically erase records already stored by the website.
- Hosting records and backups: are retained under the hosting and backup arrangements in use. Their retention is separate from the website’s statistics and browser preferences.
- Correspondence and privacy requests: retention depends on handling the enquiry, resolving related issues and meeting applicable record-keeping obligations. An ongoing dispute or legal duty may require particular records to be kept longer than a routine question.
Deletion requests are considered against the purpose of the information and any legal requirement to retain it. If particular records must be kept, we will explain the relevant reason in our response. Clearing cookies does not automatically delete messages, server records or backup copies.
7. Your rights and how to make a request
Subject to applicable law, you may ask to access your personal information, learn how it is used, and correct or update inaccurate or incomplete information. You may request evidence of authorisation where applicable, ask for deletion or withdraw an authorisation previously given. Some requests are subject to legal exceptions, including duties to preserve particular records.
Use the email or other contact details in Who is responsible. To help us understand and locate your request, please provide:
- The right you want to exercise or the issue you want us to review.
- Enough context to locate the information, such as the email address you used to contact us and the approximate date or subject.
- A way to reply, and details of your authority if you are acting for another person.
For a correction request, identify what is inaccurate and the replacement information you believe should be recorded. You can make a request without creating a website account.
We may ask for clarification or proportionate information to establish that you are entitled to receive or change the records concerned. Please do not send a copy of an identity document unless it is specifically necessary and an appropriate method has been agreed. We may be unable to associate statistical records with you using only a name or email address; we will explain any identification limits relevant to your request.
Under Colombia’s Law 1581 of 2012, information enquiries normally have a response period of ten business days from receipt. If an extension is needed, we explain the reason and respond within the additional five business days permitted by law. Complaints normally have a response period of fifteen business days from the day following receipt, with a notified extension of up to eight business days where permitted.
You may complain to the Superintendencia de Industria y Comercio after first completing the applicable enquiry or complaint process with us. Where the GDPR or UK data-protection law applies, additional rights may include restriction of processing, objection, portability and a complaint to your competent supervisory authority. The rights, exceptions and response periods depend on the law and processing concerned.
8. An adult audience
Tales of Valthoria is intended for adults aged 18 or over, and for visitors who have reached any higher age required to access this material in their location. Minors should not use the website or send us personal information.
If you believe a minor has provided personal information, contact us with enough context to investigate. Avoid sharing unnecessary sensitive information about the minor. We will consider what action is appropriate, including removal of information where required.
9. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when the website’s handling of personal information changes. The date above identifies the current version. You can contact us if you need clarification about a change or how it affects information you previously provided.
Where applicable law requires additional notice or a new authorisation, updating this page alone will not replace that requirement. Continuing to browse, by itself, does not authorise a new optional use of your information.
